Big study to understand the experience of happiness in Dutch children and adolescents
Press/Media: Research › Academic
The research project 'Every Child is Different' (in Dutch: Ieder Kind is Anders) started. Dutch children are the happiest in the world according to UNICEF. At the same time a substantial part of Dutch youth experiences mental problems, as more than a third of the youngesters experience anxiety, sadness, irritabilty or stress. These numbers increased over the past years. Current measures against the coronavirus including home isolation and home education are an extra challenge to Dutch youth and their parents. On first sight happiness and mental problems seem irreconcilable, but is that true? This is the key question in the research project Every Child is Different of the University of Groningen that started at the end of April 2020.
