Assessment and intervention in higher education students with dyslexia

Wim Tops - Keynote speaker

    In this talk Wim Tops will present the work he carried out during his PhD. He ran a large scale and longitudinal study with 100 students with dyslexia comparing them with 100 TD controls. A cognitive profile showing specific strengths and weaknesses came out, leading to a short but powerful tool for the assessment of young adults with an indication of reading and/or spelling impairments. Furthermore, Tops analyzed and compared spelling errors in dictation and in spontaneous writing samples (précis writing), taking Feeling of Confidence (metacognition) into account as well. Tops formulated implications for accommodations and intervention programs for young adults with dyslexia.
