About us Faculty of Science and Engineering Our Research GRIP Molecular Pharmacology Research

Department of Molecular Pharmacology

The research in our department is aimed at the pharmacology of chronic diseases, with emphasis on drug action and disease mechanisms. This is achieved on the one hand by the study of ligands, receptors and downstream intracellular pathways in a variety of organ systems, including the lung, cardiovasculature and brain. In addition, the identification and validation of drug targets is achieved by studies into disease mechanisms of these organs such as asthma, COPD, heart failure, Alzheimers dementia and Parkinson's disease. The research is both basic and translational in nature with strong collaborations with basic science and clinical research groups, locally and throughout the world.
