January 2014: Combatting Citrus Canker in Brazil - Dirk-Jan Scheffers has been awarded EUR 300.000 within the NWO-FAPESP programme for a collaborative project together with Dr. Henrique Ferreira (UNESP, Rio Claro, Brazil) to investigate "New environmental-friendly compounds to combat citrus canker". Brazil holds the leading position in the orange juice business, representing 85% of the international market in this sec-tor. For more information, please click here

June 2013: Sebastiaan van Kessel, a former B.Sc. student in the cell division group, gets shared 2nd place in the Golden Spatula award for the best thesis in chemistry from students of Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences. Congratulations!

November 2012: Work from Jeanine de Keyzer and Arnold Driessen, in collaboration with Rebecca Keller and Tracy Palmer, on a protein that needs both Sec and Tat for translocation was recently published in the Journal of Cell Biology and highlighted in Nature Reviews Microbiology
