Peroxisome fission, retention and transport

Peroxisomes can mulptiply by fission. In order to ensure that during yeast budding both the resulting mother cell and bud contain at least one peroxisome, the cell contains a highly dedicated machinery to ensure that one is retained in the mother cell and another one transported to the bud. At conditions that only one peroxisome is present per cell, this organelles divides during the yeast budding even. In this project we study (novel) components that are involved in peroxisome fission, retention and transport and characterize their function at the molecular level.
