Seçil Daǧtaş (Associate Prof. Waterloo University, Canada) will present her last book and fieldwork, Under the Same Sky, an ethnography on everyday coexistence among Arab ‘Alawis, Christians, Jews, and Sunni Muslims near the Turkey-Syria border. Moderated by Rafael Medeiros (PhD candidate, UG) and Prof. Dr. Karène Sanchez Summerer (Professor, Middle Eastern studies).

The second part of the event is devoted to a Film Screening & Panel: Touching Freedom. Screening of the documentary following Kurdish students documenting resistance in Kobani before fleeing as refugees. Panelists: Sarwar Joanroy, Dr. Soran Mansournia, and Zara Mansour (MA, Film Studies)).
