RMeS Workshop: Working with web archives in Media Studies: An introduction to theory, methods, and practices.

When:We 12-11-2025 09:30 - 17:15Where:Room TBA

Archived websites are becoming increasingly invaluable sources for media and historical research. This one-day event is an introductory workshop aiming to bridge theory and hands-on work with these materials. Participants will learn where and how to access archived sites (such as the Wayback Machine and national repositories), experiment with analysis tools, and discuss the ethical dilemmas of web archiving, including issues of consent, ownership, and bias. If you are interested in working with archived websites, this workshop is a great first step. It is hosted in Groningen and intended for PhD researchers and research master’s students part of a Dutch research school, with priority given to RMeS members.
