How do artists approach the Wadden Sea landscape through color? De Kleuren van het Wad brings together work by 20th-century Ploeg members with the work of modern and contemporary artists. We take you on a journey through a century of Wadden Sea colors, from bright and contrasting to true to nature.

Curator and RUG researcher Anna-Rosja Haveman developed this exhibition. She selected artworks in which color not only expresses emotions but also evokes ecological questions. Art has an enormous influence on the perception of the landscape: IMAGE-ination is linked to what you value about a place and how you interact with it. Kunstcentrum De Ploeg believes that creativity is not reserved solely for professional artists, but is also a powerful tool for bringing residents of the region together. That is why several works in the exhibition were created through participation and co-creation. Visitors contributed to this exhibition by painting and by making natural Wadden ink.
