Venue and travel

Venue

Our conference team warmly welcomes you to Groningen, a university town nestled in the north of the Netherlands. Its compact, walkable city centre boasts centuries‑old architecture and the university’s Academy Hall as the inspiring backdrop for our conference. The University of Groningen, founded in 1614, is home to an internationally renowned humanities faculty and a diverse group of scholars working on French history, language, and culture.

Travel

If you're travelling by train from France, Belgium, or the UK, we recommend taking the Eurostar to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, where you can board direct domestic trains to Groningen. If you're flying in to Schiphol airport, you can transfer to these domestic trains directly from the airport terminal. It is not necessary to buy advance tickets; you can simply take whichever train you wish on the day. For travel information and train times, please consult https://www.ns.nl/en. Once you arrive in Groningen, the main train station is walking distance to the city center and to the conference event locations, as well as many hotels. There is also an extensive bus network connecting the station to hotels further afield, should you wish to make use of that.
