A Symposium Organized by the Centre for Gender Studies with Dr. Frederike Mengel (University of Essex) and Director of Research and Assessment Austin Hocker (University of Oregon)
Course evaluations have been a topic of both informal debate in the hallways of academic departments as well as the subject of scholarly research in recent decades. With the growing debate about gender bias in teaching evaluations, today’s symposium offers two presentations on teaching evaluations as well as a short workshop intended to gather experiences of teachers at the University of Groningen. We welcome Dr. Frederike Mengel (University of Essex) who will present on her research on “Gender Bias in Performance Evaluations” and Director Austin Hocker from the University of Oregon who will present on the transformations carried out at his university for revising how teaching evaluations occur.
