Workshop: Private Actors and Sanctions

When:Mo 17-12-2018 09:00 - 17:00
Where:EUR - Campus Woudestein, Burgemeester Oudlaan 50, 3062 PA Rotterdam

This workshop 'Private Actors and Sanctions' aims at discussing the strategies that the private actors use to interpret, implement, and comply with sanctions. In particular, we are interested in understanding the everyday practice of sanctions at the level of actors who ultimately have to interpret them – firms.  What are the problems? What are the challenges? What are the solutions? The workshop is open to practitioners, academics and government officials that have an interest in this topic. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate discussions and enhance the understanding of the role of non-state actors when implementing international sanctions.

This workshop is organized by dr Michal Onderco (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and dr Francesco Giumelli (University of Groningen). The organization of the workshop is financially supported by the International Social Research Foundation.

The event takes place under Chatham House rules. Advance registration is mandatory. Please contact organizers for more information.
