Kick off meeting Health and Humanities

When:Th 15-03-2018 13:00 - 15:00
Where:Harmony Building, room 1312.0019

The aim of interdisciplinary group Health and Humanities is to bring together researchers at any stage in their career, working on topics related to health and the body from the perspectives of history, historical demography, gender, health politics, art history and literary studies. It starts from the premise that these topics are not necessarily, and not exclusively, medical. Against the common trend to see people (body ánd mind) as the product of a self-evident biology, rather than in terms of psychology and social circumstances, the Centre places non-medical ideas, practices and experiences of body and health center stage. Catrien Santing will give a short introduction to the history of the body and I will briefly introduce the methodology of critical medical humanities. Additionally some researchers will give 5 minutes pitches on their research.
