Three CLARIAH Teaching Fellowships awarded to ICOG-researchers

23 June 2021

Prof. Dr Susan Aasman, Dr Berber Hagedoorn and Dr Sabrina Sauer have received Teaching Fellowships for their integrated project "Suite Discoveries," which teaches Media Studies students and Digital Humanities students about the CLARIAH Media Suite.

The project consists of three sub-projects that support student-oriented use of the collections and tools. Susan Aasman’s fellowship TRACE teaches students to apply different research modes when selecting, appraising and curating sources in intermediated archival infrastructures such as the Media Suite.

Berber Hagedoorn’s fellowship MAKE teaches students in the international classroom to use the English-language collections in the CLARIAH Media Suite for creative multimodal storytelling projects: students search, contextualize and share the Media Suite’s cultural heritage content to engage users with it.

Sabrina Sauer’s fellowship DISCERN teaches students about the discovery and evaluation of serendipitous information encountering with this digital infrastructure by means of exploratory search tasks, research diaries, tool criticism, and user studies.

The three projects together allow for an overarching view on source exploration, storytelling, and curation, as well as on tool criticism and how digital infrastructures like CLARIAH change perceptions and habits of doing research.
