Proposal writing course for the ERC Starting and Consolidator grants

27 February 2018

On 25 June (9.15 - 17.00) RVO comes to Groningen to give a grant writing course for the ERC Starting and Consolidator grants - see attachment. The course caters for researchers who plan to submit for the upcoming Starting and Consolidator calls. According to Esther Verhoeven from RVO, this course can also be beneficial to those who are still unsure whether to submit for the upcoming or a later call. See the programme.

Some quotes from participants who attended the course in 2016:
''The training was very useful for me especially regarding the CV part of the proposals; what is requested? What is needed?'' ''I learned that my plans for potential proposals were not nearly 'sharp' enough and need much more work and thinking''. "The frontier research aspect: that ERC is not looking for applied research or fashionable topics, but rather goes for state of the art in terms of theory development and “risky” projects''

The course has room for 10 -15 participants. Those researchers who want to sign up need to do so in person at talent@rug.nl, and mention "ERC starting & consolidator training June 25" in the subject line. In their mail they should state:

  • if they are going to submit in the next call or in a later call;
  • in what area they are going to submit (LS, SH or PE); and
  • if they are opting for a starting or a consolidator grant.

The course fee is €120. The course cannot take in more than 15 participants, so 'first come first serve' applies! RVO also organizes these one day courses in Utrecht. You can find more information here. If you are interested in submitting an ERC StG or CoG proposal, please inform your head of department and the faculty Funding Officer (m.stern@rug.nl) when you register for this course.
