Public consultation draft version Code of Conduct for Research Integrity

20 February 2018

It is vital that research is carried out in accordance with the principles of research integrity. For this reason, there has been a Dutch Code of Conduct for Academic Practice since 2004. In June 2016, a committee recommended revising the current Code of Conduct for Academic Practice (2014). You can read the recommendation report here (Dutch only). In response, the boards of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), the Dutch Federation of University Medical Centres (NFU), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the Federation of Applied Research Organisations (TO2), the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) asked the committee to prepare a new text for this Code.

Public consultation
The draft Code of Conduct will be available for public consultation from 1 February until 1 March inclusive. The committee will consider the feedback and incorporate it into the text of the Code where necessary. Subsequently, the committee will offer the new Code of Conduct to its clients, i.e. the boards of the KNAW, the NFU, the NWO, the TO2 Federation, the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and the VSNU. The definitive text of the new Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity will ultimately be determined by the boards.
