Workshop: Open Sesame and Python

Building experiments and analyzing data with OpenSesame and Python

In this workshop, you will gain hands-on experience with programming experiments in OpenSesame and Python, and with analyzing behavioral data. The workshop consists of three days (June 9 - 11, 2020), where every day has a morning (10:00 - 12:30) and afternoon (13:30-16:00) program.The workshop will be presented by Sebastiaan Mathôt.

The workshop is aimed at beginners and intermediate-level users. No prior experience with Python or OpenSesame is required. The program is structured such that are assignments of different levels of difficulty to match your skill level. Please bring your own laptop, and make sure that OpenSesame 3.3 has been installed. You can download OpenSesame for free from: http://osdoc.cogsci.nl/


Registration

You can register via the link below. This includes three days of workshop and lunch. Accommodation is not included, but Groningen has many great hotels and AirBnB opportunities.

The registration for people working at the Psychology department of the RUG is free.

Day 1 (June 9, 2020):
Before lunch: An introduction to building experiments with OpenSesame
After lunch: An introduction to programming in Python

Day 2 (June 10, 2020):
Before lunch: Using Python and OpenSesame together
After lunch: Designing and implementing your own experiment

Day 3 (June 11, 2020):
Before lunch: Collecting data
After lunch: Analyzing your data
