Dear colleagues and students,
The seventh PIL (Pharmacy Interdepartmental Lecture) of year 2016/2017 will be held on Tuesday, March 14th at 12 midday in 3214-0081 with a lunch afterwards in the catering area opposite the Keuningzaal.
The PIL will be given by Hidde Haisma from the group of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Biology. The titel of his presentation is:

Genetic Therapies; drugs of the future?

The gene therapy field has picked up steam with the approval of several drugs for the treatment of monogenic diseases.

New technologies, such as gene editing, have entered the clinic and appear to be safe.

Meanwhile, the possibility of misusing genetic therapies for performance enhancement in sports remains a challenge for the anti-doping authorities.
