PIL on Tuesday 13th November

When:Tu 13-11-2018 12:00 - 13:00
Dear colleagues and students,
The third PIL of year 2018/2019 will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 12 midday in the Boeringzaal with a lunch afterwards in the catering area opposite the Keuningzaal.

This PILwill be given by Victor Guryev, Group Leader of the Laboratory of Genome Structure and Ageing (ERIBA).

The title of his presentation is:

Omics data integration and personalized treatment

Despite recent advances in genome sequencing, we can identify causative DNA mutations in about 20-30% of hereditary disorder cases. Extending genome data with other omics modalities, such as transcriptome and proteome is expected to improve our ability to identify genetic alterations responsible for a disease. Integrating different layers of omics data is thus a key to successful personal diagnostics.

In our studies we employ genome, transcriptome and proteome from patients to recover full spectrum of molecular changes linked to disease. I will discuss our approach to data integration and give examples of our findings that cannot be done when data from each omics level are analysed separately.

The dates and locations of the PILin 2018/2019 are as follows:
Tuesday, November 13th: Boeringzaal - Victor Guryev
