Orthopedics and Trauma Summer School

The goal of this summer school, Orthopedics and Trauma Summer School, is to teach a yearly, English taught, 5-day program using a multidisciplinary approach on the subjects of orthopaedics, traumatology and sports medicine. The week consists of both an educational and social program. The summer school will be hosted by the University Medical Center Groningen and University of Groningen in collaboration with the departments of orthopaedics, sports medicine, trauma surgery, movement sciences and rehabilitation medicine.

The educational program will include interactive lectures and workshops by specialist doctors from the departments of orthopedic surgery, traumatology and sports medicine. The main themes of these lectures will be:

• Joint wear and replacement and ligament injuries

• Bone fractures and surgical repair

• Sports injuries and rehabilitation

During the interactive workshops the knowledge learnt during lectures can be put into practice through arthroscopy and anatomical dissections as well as introductions to plastering and suturing, to name a few!

Besides the educational program we will also provide a strong social one with many activities to ensure a week of fun! You will get to know the other international participants both inside and outside the hospital. We will share lovely meals in the city center and experience Dutch culture at its finest.

At the end of the course, participants will be rewarded with a certificate justifying their attendance and participation.
