In addition to the PhD programmes the Graduate School of Medical Sciences offers the following Masters Programmes:
- Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology (Research Master)
- Molecular Medicine and Innovative Treatment (previously Medical and Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation)
- International Master in Innovative Medicine
Another Master Programme relates to neurosciences and is coordinated by the Faculty of Science and Engineering. An important share of neurosciences research (the so-called "n-track) takes place at the University Medical Center Groningen and future PhD students may also benefit from the Abel Tasman Talent Programme
These programmes have an excellent reputation and attract the best applicants from around the globe. We take pride in creating an environment in which our students prosper into their field of interest, with our objective being to mould true leaders in science, who think critically, independently, and creatively.
If accepted, you would be supervised by internationally-renowned scientists, while applying modern techniques with state-of-the-art facilities. Programmes are both highly intensive and interactive, all sharing our philosophy that it is essential to advance research skills with a practical, “hands-on”, approach; complementing, advancing, and fortifying the theoretical knowledge.
After graduating you are comprehensively prepared for a successful career in (bio)medical or health sciences. Having had the opportunity to design your own PhD project as part of the programme, you are well qualified to attain a PhD position anywhere in the world. The best students receive offers to continue with a PhD at the UMCG. However, many other opportunities exist within any organisation that conducts or deals with research, spanning the public and private sectors.
