Admission requirements and procedure

The Research master programme of the faculty of Law has a selection procedure. This means that the admissions committee of the Master Legal Research decides who will be admitted to the programme.

Delayed application deadline Master Legal Research May 1, 2024!

Step 1: Studielink

You can apply until the first of April for the Research Master programme through Studielink. Please follow the instructions carefully. Studielink is the central registration platform for higher education in the Netherlands

Step 2: Provide information

> students from a non-Dutch University: you will receive an email from Admissions office. Please follow the procedure as specified in that email.
> students from a Dutch University : please have a look at the Dutch website for the application procedure how to upload the documents requested.

Applicants with non-Dutch qualifications
Please note that for the 2024-2025 admissions round, all applicants with non-Dutch qualifications will have to pay an application fee of €100. More specific details about the application fee can be found here. Application files/documents will only begin being reviewed after the application fee has been received.

If applicants do not receive any notifications, or have questions about your application, please contact the Admissions Office through this form, as something might have gone wrong.

As the procedure is a little bit complicated because of our obligation to use Studielink, you can find instructions and more information on the exact application procedure here. You can also find a PDF application guide here.

Step 3: Selection Procedure

Part of admission is a written assignment. You will receive this via mail from the Graduate School of Law after the first selection. You have one week to turn in your assignment after it is sent.

The Admissions Board will consider whether you are qualified to be admitted to the Research Master’s programme. A personal (online) interview to provide additional information about your motives and aspirations to enter the programme could be part of the procedure.

Step 4: Admission

We endeavour to send the decision of the Admissions Board within six weeks after your application is complete. There are three possibilities: accepted, conditionally accepted or rejected.
