Beatriz Rodriguez Sanchez

Beatriz Rodriguez-Sanchez is a PhD student in the Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance in the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). She got her Bachelor in Business Administration and Management in the University of Carlos III of Madrid, Spain and her MSc in Health Economics in the University of York, United Kingdom, where she confirmed her interest in the field of Health Economics. She started her PhD in York in October 2014 and moved to Groningen in March 2015 to continue her PhD, which is funded by the university, under the supervision of Prof. Bernard van den Berg and Dr. Talitha Feenstra.

The focus of her doctoral research is “The economic approach to diabetes in the elderly”, through which she aims to analyse the burden of diabetes on the use of healthcare resources and its consequent impact on national healthcare expenditures, on individual’s wellbeing as well as on labour force participation. Furthermore, she aims to build a model for diabetes regarding all these elements.

Her main fields of interest include health economics, cost-effectiveness analysis, health policy, modelling and econometrics.
