Tian Xie

Tian Xie is a PhD student at the department of Epidemiology. She graduated in 2017 at Peking University, China (bachelor in Preventive Medicine and double major in Sociology; master in Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health), then she started her PhD under the supervision of Harold Snieder and Eva Corpeleijn.

Her PhD will focus on “Early (Epi)genetic and Environmental Origins of Obesity and Hypertension” and is built on the GECKO Drenthe birth cohort. The aim of this project is to identify (epi)genetic and environmental determinants of childhood body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure, including a Genome-wide Association Analysis (GWAS) to identify novel genetic loci for childhood blood pressure.
