Kaying Kan

Kaying Kan is a PhD candidate in the Department of Interdiciplenary Center Psychopathology and Emotion regulation (ICPE), Rob Giel Reserch Center (RGOc). She got her Master degree in Health Economics, Policy and Law at the Institute of Health Policy and Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2013. During her master she did her specialization in Health Technology Assessment. Her Bachelor degree in Nutrition & Dietetics was obtained cum laude at Hanze University in Groningen. She started her PhD in February 2016, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Robert Schoevers, Prof. Dr. Erik Buskens, Dr. Talitha Feenstra and Dr. Frederike Jörg.

The focus of her research is improvement of quality and efficiency of depression treatment. She is currently working in the IMPROVE-project: Improving Mental Health care using Personalized treatment based on analysis of Routine data for Optimal Value and Effectiveness. The use of administrative mental health care data and claims data to contribute to an economical and efficient use of care in depression treatment is the main focus of her research. Furthermore, she aims to develop an IT tool to aid clinicians and patients in the choice of treatment for depression.
