Henk Groen MD, PhD is assistant professor in Epidemiology, specialized in Medical Technology Assessment in the fields of Fertility Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. He studied Medicine at the University of Groningen from 1980 to 1987 and got his PhD on the topic of pulmonary involvement in connective tissue disease in 1993. He has worked in clinical pharmacology from 1991 to 1999 and has been working in the field of Medical Technology Assessment  at the University Medical Centre Groningen since the year 2000. He has been involved with several large nationally funded studies in the field of fertility medicine and surgical oncology, resulting in a number of publications. He has vast experience with research methodology and statistics. His current research interests are perinatal epidemiology and prediction modelling in obstetrics.

He is co-founder and board member of the UMCG research programme on “Reproductive Origins of Adult Health and Disease” (ROAHD), member of the International Society for Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, the Dutch society for Epidemiology (VVE), the Dutch society for Health Technology Assessment (NVTAG) and Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi).
