PNU-Groningen Centre in Korea
PNU-Groningen Research Centre (PGRC)
At PGRC, Groningen professors will teach classes to students of Pusan National University. Vice versa, PNU visiting researchers contribute to both teaching and research at the University of Groningen, through study and teaching visits. The Centre organizes an annual Groningen Master’s programme presentation for bachelors students from PNU. The Centre holds seminars and international conferences both in Pusan and Groningen and widens and deepens the academic cooperation and exchange between the two partners.
The inter-faculty Centre follows the successful examples of the Dutch Studies Centre at Fudan, the International Studies Centre at Tsinghua University, and the Dutch Studies Centre at Osaka University (ee CEASG website under Research for centralized information). The project also draws upon the many Korean studies related activities of the Centre for East Asian Studies Groningen (CEASG), and the active partnership between the University of Groningen and PNU.
At PNU the Centre is coordinated by Prof. dr. Hongchan Chun. Hongchan Chun is the former Dean of PNU International and a professor at the department of political science and diplomacy, College of Social Science, Pusan National University in Busan. He received his M.A and PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U.S.A. His research interests includes the Russian Foreign Policy in East Asia and Modern Diplomatic History.
At the University of Groningen the Centre is jointly coordinated by prof. Tjallng Halbertsma, Director International at CEASG, and dr. Sunkung Choi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business and an alumna of PNU.
