CEASG and the Faculty of Economics and Business have successfully applied with the Korea Foundation for a grant of three hundred thousand USD to further develop Korean Studies at the University of Groningen.
The grant allows the continuation of the tenure track appointment of
Dr. Sunkung Choi
at FEB, with affiliation to GSG/CEASG. The aim of the grant is to ultimately establish a Chair in Korean Studies at the University of Groningen.
Dr. Choi conducts research on experimental economics at FEB. She has developed a number of courses on Korean economy and teaches within the MA East Asian Studies. She is further instrumental in the organization of the annual Summer School organized in Groningen for students from Pusan National University (PNU), and the development of a Groningen-Pusan Study Centre at PNU, in Busan, Korea.
The grant follows two earlier Korea Foundation grants applied for by CEASG and FEB of fifty thousand dollars each, and another research grant successfully applied for by CEASG for Dr. Stefan Weishaar (
Faculty of Law
). The Korea Foundation also annually supports the acquisition of literature selected by CEASG for the
. The Korea Corner was launched in 2014 by CEASG at the university Library.
