Dr. Lamont and Ms. Pannwitz present on Japan’s Development and Humanitarian Policies at the 6th Arab Conference for Commercial and Maritime Law

On 21 December 2014, Dr. Christopher K. Lamont (University of Groningen, IRIO) and Ms. Hannah Pannwitz (University of Oxford, Faculty of Oriental Studies) presented a paper on the widening scope of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) with particular reference to Japan’s ODA and humanitarian assistance in the Middle East and North Africa to an audience that included Egyptian diplomats and representatives from embassies in Cairo. Their paper was presented at the 6th Arab Conference for Commercial and Maritime Law, which was hosted by the Arab League’s College of International Transport & Logistics. The College of International Transport & Logistics is housed within the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, one of two Arab League universities, the other being in Latakia, Syria. Prior to the conference, Dr. Lamont and Ms. Pannwitz met with the Dean of the College of International Transport & Logitics, Professor Nader Ibrahim and Professors Mieczyslaw Boduszynski (Pomona College, USA), Arnaud Kurze (Montclair State University, USA) and Mohamed Arafa (Alexandria University, Egypt & Indiana University, USA) to discuss research and teaching cooperation.
