BOLD

Building on Linguistic and Cultural Diversity for social action within and beyond European universities

BOLD is an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project running from the 1-12-2022 to 30-11-2025. Our project addresses inclusion and diversity in education, by connecting higher education institutions and institutions providing education at informal and non-formal levels. The primary goals of BOLD are to allow all partner institutions to expand the social relevance and commitment of their activities through connection to civil society and to reinforce our network of partners, by bringing together institutions with two strands of expertise: multilingualism and social activism.

BOLD aims at bridging the gap between initial teacher education and engagement in civil society by:

  • supporting student teachers’ active citizenship and civic engagement through the development of professional knowledge and competencies leading to social action;
  • promoting the collaboration of higher education institutions with civil society organisations and associations, through the implementation of service-learning and social action collaborative projects advocating for linguistic and cultural diversity.

Activities include the creation of open educational resources, hybrid courses, and the design, implementation and assessment of social action projects targeting the development of professional skills for student teachers of different subjects, based on a double principle: first, active commitment (savoir s’engager) and activism for a more sustainable linguistic and cultural future and, second, linguistic and cultural skills for more social activism.

Partners involved are:

  • The University of Hamburg in Germany, the project leader
  • Web2Learn, Greece
  • Universidade Autonoma de Madrid, Spain
  • Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal
  • Université D’Ais Marseille, France
  • Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Netherlandas

By increasing our capacity to operate jointly at a transnational level through exchanging expertise, we intend to develop new teacher education practices and methods leading to more social participation, civic engagement and transferability towards the society.
