Research Center for Language and Cognition (CLCG) Research Computational Linguistics Research

General research

The Computational Linguistics group of CLCG has a long standing record of internationally renowned research in all major areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP).

More specifically, active research topics include grammar engineering, computational semantics, social media analysis, machine translation, information extraction, dialogue modelling, and several aspects of digital humanities. In our research, we combine deep learning with more classic machine learning techniques, as well as substantial input from linguistic and communication theory. We also have special expertise in the processing of Dutch.

As a group we strive to maximise circulation of ideas as the key to research progress. Internally, we hold a weekly meeting in which current research problems and solutions are exchanged and discussed between staff and graduate and PhD students. We also participate in the CLCG seminar series in which people from outside the group bring in and talk about their current research. We are also actively involved in the international community by serving on committees for the main CL conferences, and organising and attending events.
