What are you currently working on? And how is a gender and diversity perspective important in your research?

Artistic expressions produced by migrant and minority communities have gained academic interest in the past decades. Less attention has been paid to the role of women and their importance for fostering integration through narratives focusing on their particular situation as a migrant or as part of a minority. Our project aims at filling this gender gap within migrant and minority studies. It examines female voices in literature and performative arts within the context of contemporary European public space and focuses on the intersections of multiple identities. The case studies of female protagonists allow for a better understanding of personal identity and ultimately also transgress the individual experience by analyzing relationships defined by categories such as race, class, religion, gender and sexuality.
