11 April: 2017 Fo Guang Buddhist Monastic Retreat (9 July - 5 August 2017)

The Fo Guang Buddhist Monastic Retreat is accepting applications for summer 2017.
The retreat will be held at Fo Guang Shan Monastery, near Gaoxiong in southern Taiwan, from 9 July to 5 August. This summer school is open to 50-60 university/college students or recent graduates, aged 18-35, who are interested in learning about Buddhism and at the same time experiencing authentic Chinese Buddhist monastic life.

The retreat is divided into four parts:
  • Part A: Orientation, Monastic Life, Buddhist Studies Classes (14 days)
  • Part B: Intensive Chán Meditation Retreat (7 days)
  • Part C: International Youth Seminar on Life and Chán (4 days)
  • Part D: Cultural Tour of Taiwan (3 days)

The retreat is led by monastics and laity of Fo Guang Shan; classes on Buddhism and Chinese culture are delivered by professors from Fo Guang University and other institutions in Taiwan and abroad; teaching and instructions are given in English.

This retreat is free, only the airfare to Taiwan is not included.
