Being Smart about implants,

From findings and patented technology from the department of Biomedical Engineering a new company has been established. BiomACS has been established on the 6th of March, 2019 (www.biomacs.nl). The aim of the company is to assist medical implant developers and companies to minimize secondary medical complications that arise from implant material-cell interactions such as fibrosis.

The spin-out company has been founded by Patrick van Rijn (BME-UMCG), Menno de Jong (CEO, Imajin BV), and Richard Hamstra (CFO, Walbreker BV) with the great assistance of EmpowerMi (Elzo de Lange & Elke Veenman).The foundation of the company is the high-throughput capabilities to study thousands of combined physical material properties and how these influence tissue cells in a single go. From a previously awarded NWO-TTW feasibility study, the market potential was explored and provided insights in the broadly appreciation of the concept by both clinicians and medical implant and device companies.
