Title: The Web was made by amateurs

Abstract:

In 2012, Alan Kay released an interview to the Dr. Dobb’s journal in which he stated: ‘‘the Internet was done so well that most people think of it as a natural resource like the Pacific Ocean, rather than something that was man-made. [...] The Web, in comparison, is a joke. The Web was done by amateurs.’’ By looking at the history and present state of the Web, I will bring arguments for the grounding of Kay's statement. The format of the talk is intended to leave space to the audience to intervene and participate in the discussion.  The material presented is based on a forthcoming book.
