Title: “Filo: Consolidated Consensus as a Cloud Service”.

Abstract:

“In this talk I will introduce Filo, a system that is designed to provide Paxos-like consensus protocols as cloud services. Consensus is at the core of many production-grade distributed systems. Given the prevalence of these systems it is important to offer consensus as a cloud service. To match the multitenant requirements of the cloud, consensus as a service must provide performance guarantees and prevent aggressive tenants from monopolizing the service. Accomplishing this goal is not trivial without over provisioning and under-utilizing resources. Filo is designed to overcome these challenges. “

Bio:

“Parisa is an Applied Researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge, in Systems and Networking team, where she completed a postdoc degree prior to her current position. She received her PhD in 2014 from University of Lugano. Parisa is interested in the theory and practice of Distributed systems, in particular reliability and fault tolerance, performance and scalability, and resource-efficient and multitenant replication in the cloud.”
