In this third edition of the successful Art History Lectures Groningen series, two art historians investigate the relation between nature and art in Art History. The event is linked to the exhibition 'Romanticism in the North: From Friedrich to Turner' in the Groninger Museum and it is organised in collaboration with the Centre for Landscape History and the Groninger Museum.

Jan von Brevern, Freie Universität, Berlin received his PhD from ETH Zurich in 2010. His fields of research are the history of photography, scientific images and 18th-century aesthetic theory.
“The Modern Romance of Art & Nature”
Joost Keizer, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen is Assistant Professor of Art History. His research interests include Italian Renaissance art, mimesis, and the absorption of life in art.
