Research Arctic Centre Research Sustainability of the Arctic Anthropocene Long-term perspectives

Long-term perspectives

We need to look backwards in time to understand how we got to the present situation; this knowledge base helps us live in the present and devise sustainable strategies for the future. Herefor our research focus on the deeper origins of the anthropocene in the Arctic to create a better knowledge base that allows us to tackle modern challenges (e.g. pertaining to cities, regions, ecosystems, cultural and linguistic diversity, heritage, identities and communities, ecosystem services, etc.) and plan for sustainable futures in the age of the anthropocene.

Research of the Arctic Centre focuses at three inter-locking temporal scales: palaeo; current; future-predictive.
