The Anthropocene

Allthough the Arctic is remote, all parts of it have been more or less transformed by human impacts; the deep (pre)history of these cumulative impacts continues to create the cultural landscapes and modified ecosystems. This modern context of deeply inter-coupled social-ecological systems forms the baseline from which we can plan and implement sustainable futures. The challenges are enormous and have deep societal relevance.
