Arctic Centre fieldwork 2019

Many Arctic Centre researchers will be on fieldwork again this summer.

Jouke prop has another season of observations in his data series from 1979 onwards. AT his remote location no up-date on social media is possible, but he reported trhough satelite phone that all early barnacle goose nests already have been eaten by polar bears. The Netherlands Arctic Station in Ny-Alesund has opened again. Several experiments are planned which can be followed via a weblog on http://www.arcticstation.nl.

In July Sean Desjardins will do research in northern Foxe Basin in Arctic Canada. His research on Inuit archeology can be folled on twitter @RUG_Arctic

In august Maarten Loonen has planned a mini expedition to Zeeuwse Uitkyk to study the permafrost situation in a grave field of 17th and 18th century whalers.
