Seminar International Cooperation in Criminal Matters (6 ECTS)

Brief course description: Detailed analysis of state jurisdiction and of the most important forms of international cooperation in the context of criminal cases, such as extradition, mutual legal assistance, the transfer of proceedings and the transfer of the execution of sentences. Special attention is given to the function of treaties and their status in the legal order of individual states, and to the system of mutual recognition in the European Union, which can be regarded as a paradigm shift in international cooperation in criminal matters.
Teaching method: Lectures, in-class discussions, presentations and papers.
Assessment: Papers (60%), active participation in class (30%), presentation (10%).
