Organised and Financial Crime (6 ECTS)

Brief course description: This course explores different types of criminal activity, all involving an organised and financial aspect and often transcending domestic borders. The in-depth analyses of different crimes rely on the study of international and domestic legislation as well as on relevant case law. Far from remaining purely theoretical, the course identifies the challenges this type of criminality raises for individual states, and for the international community as a whole, both in terms of prevention and of punishment and assesses the viability and efficiency of the legal responses adopted so far. This course includes in-depth analyses of the following organised and financial crimes: financial crimes, money laundering, drug trafficking, gun violence, terrorism.
Teaching method: Lectures, in-class discussions.
Assessment: Essay exam .
