Comparative Property Law (6 ECTS)
When: Block 1
Brief course description: The course starts with an introduction to comparative law in general and the method of practicing comparative law. Students are introduced to the various legal systems derived from Roman law, and especially to French and German law. Students learn to appreciate how different solutions have been found for the same legal problems in various European codes. Furthermore students will study the Anglo-American legal system. Next to examining the general structure of this system, students will be familiarised with basic issues of English property law and trust law. The course is completed by a comparison of modern continental European private law and the Anglo-American system.

Assessment: Essay exam and/or oral exam (depending on the number of participants).
