Leerdoelen  At the end of the course the student is able to: 1. determine vector properties (linear independence, basis,dimension) 2. analyse and solve systems of linear equations 3. setup and analyse systems of linear transformations 4. perform matrix operations (multiplication, inverse) 5. compute determinants 6. compute eigenvalues and eigenvectors and employ these in practical applications 7. solve systems of firstorder linear differential equations 8. compute and analyse basic geometry (lines, planes and intersections) 9. perform partial differentiation, compute extremes, gradient, tangent planes, and linear approximations 10. compute integrals in 2 and 3 dimenstions 

Omschrijving  In this course, first basic concepts and skills in the area of linear algebra are discussed. Subsequently, functions of one variable are extended to multivariable functions, with topics such as: partial derivatives, directional derivatives, gradients, extremes of a multivariable function and multidimensional integration. The material is illustrated through examples that focus on the applications of mathematical techniques.
