Leerdoelen At the end of the course, the student is able to:
1) understand the fundamental key theoretical and observational questions relevant for the Universe;
2) understand the very fabric of spacetime in conjunction with general relativity, and the interplay with particle physics
and physics beyond the Standard Model;
3) understand the hot big bang cosmology, success of big bang nucleosynthesis and cosmic inflation;
4) able to perform exact and approximate computations to the pertinent questions for understanding the Universe as a
Omschrijving The course Particle cosmology will delve into understanding the small and large scale structures of the Universe. The course will be formulated to appreciate the intricacies of the early Universe cosmology, from the beginning of Big Bang singularity to the present day acceleration of the Universe. We will discuss the properties of thermal history of the Universe, such as creation of matter-antimatter asymmetry, dark matter creation, success of the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis, and inflationary cosmology. We will briefly discuss how to seed the primodial structure formation in the history of the Universe.
