Leerdoelen | At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1.name and calculate surface and interface properties in different environments as well as to name and calculate adsorption and desorption processes. 2.compare the different presented experimental techniques and is able to decide which technique is best suited to approach a specific surface science question. 3.analyze given measurement data and to compare it to similar data to judge the data quality. |

Entreevoorwaarden | The course unit assumes prior knowledge acquired from Quantum mechanics and Solid state physics offered in the degree programmes of Physics and Applied Physics. The course unit is an elective in the Advanced Materials track of the degree programmes Applied Physics / Physics. |

Opmerkingen | The students need to score 55% of the total amount of points of the exam in order to pass with the lowest possible mark (which is 6). The final mark is determined in the following way: Either only by the written exam or by a combination of 2/3 exam and 1/3 problems solved at home. The mark achieved by solving the problems can only improve the overall mark. This course was registered last year with course code NASI-08 |
