Omschrijving | The aim of the Mechanical Engineering research project is to conduct an independent academic research project on scientific problems related to the mechanical engineering discipline. The project should include, depending on the track and specialization, experimental work, numerical simulation work or rigorous mathematical/statistical analysis. Before the completion of the research project the student must have followed the compulsory module on scientific integrity. It is advisable for the student to follow this module at the earliest opportunity during the overall master period. The protocol of an MSc thesis comprises the following steps: 1. The student may choose his/her own research topic upon discussion with the lecturers associated to the Mechanical Engineering program. 2. Preliminary literature study, problem formulation and planning 3. Writing preliminary research proposal 4. Handing in the project proposal 5. Analyze, interpret and discuss results within the state of the art prior to regular discussion with supervisor/s (including results, presentation and modification of the original research proposal if and when needed) 6. Writing final scientific report and presentation 7. Assessment and calculation of the examination mark 8. Providing the ESC with the following documents: 1) copy of the thesis in repository; 2) assessment form with final score (according to fixed criteria) signed by two assessors. |
