Omschrijving | The aim of the ME Design Project is to conduct a mechanical engineering design project in a company (through an internship) or in a research group. The project puts a particular emphasis on the experimental design aspect that the student must incorporate in the design analysis. Before the completion of the design project the student must have followed the compulsory module on scientific integrity. It is advisable for the student to follow this module at the earliest opportunity during the overall master period. The protocol of the design project comprises the following steps: 1. The student may choose his/her own design topic upon discussion with the program coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering program. 2. Preliminary literature study, problem formulation and planning 3. Writing a preliminary design project proposal 4. Literature study and experimental design plan 5. Analyze, interpret and discuss results within the state of the art prior to regular discussion with supervisor/s (including results presentation and modification of the original design proposal if and when needed) 6. Writing final report and presentation 7. Providing the ESC with the following documents: 1) copy of the thesis in repository; 2) assessment form with final score (according to fixed criteria) signed by the two assessors. More information can be found on the student portal, especially in the Design Project guide: https://student.portal.rug.nl/infonet/studenten/fse/programmes/msc-me/curriculum/design-project Before starting your project, please contact the coordinator, Marzia Nuzzolo, via designme.fse@rug.nl. |

Opmerkingen | A special assesment form is available for the final grade. It consists of 5 criteria: design plan (35%), design results & analysis (35%), management of the design project (10%), presentation (10%), report (10%) The final grade is only registered in when -the student has followed the module Scientific Integrity. This module will be offered twice a year. -The report is uploaded in the repository All elements are compulsory. A repair programme is possible, to be decided upon by the Board of Examiners of Mechanical Engineering |
