Omschrijving | This course unit will introduce the participants into the world of food/pharma product design from an industrial perspective. Participants will hear about several basic principles that govern the development of a specific food or pharmaceutical product. Using several real-life examples, the experts will explain how scientific principles dictate product development. The lectures will be given by experts working in the food and/or pharma industry. | ||||||||||||||||

Entreevoorwaarden | The course unit assumes prior knowledge acquired from Organic chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, and/or the degree programmes Chemical Engineering (CE), Chemistry or Industrial Engineering and Management, PPT track. Students of the IEM-PPT & CE programs will have a priority for this course. There is a maximum of 32 students for this course. |

Opmerkingen | The assessment comprises two extensive case reports one on a food product and one on a pharma product. Feedback on the first report has to be used in the second report. The reports have to give a detailed description of a given product and the science behind this product. The reports need to meet the following minimum criteria: 1. Well structured, well organized, figures of sufficient quality; 2. Exceeds the minimum criteria with respect to length, use of references, reference to patents etc.; 3. Clear argumentation using references, arguments supported by facts from literature/patents; 4. All questions that were posed in the assignment are addressed; 5. Proficient English; 6. Proper citations and referring (no plagiarism); 7. Proper reference list. Each report counts for 50% to the final grade. This course was registered last year with course code WMIE14005 |
