At the end of the course students can:- describe the physiological impact of ageing;
- describe the relationship between ageing and chronic diseases of the lungs, brain and cardiovascular system;
- describe the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms of these diseases;
- describe the relevance for developing new treatment options;
- critically read a scientific article and discuss this both in writing and orally.

This course covers the following subjects:- oxidative and endoplasmatic reticulum stress;
- ageing and the inflammatory response (‘inflammageing’);
- tissue remodelling and regenerative pharmacology;
- cellular signalling associated with ageing;
- chronopharmacology;
- novel therapeutic approaches.
