Omschrijving | In the “Skills” course you set-up your Portfolio on Nestor and you fill out a self-assessment form on the knowledge and skills you already have & those you still need to develop. At the end of the master programme you once again fill out this self-assessment. The formal requirement is that you at least upload all final versions of the assignments of each course unit into your Portfolio. This makes it a Product Portfolio. In later life, you can set-up your own website on which you can show a selection of your products (please do keep in mind that to publish e.g. interviews you would need permission). To document your learning, it makes sense to also upload first versions and feedback on your work, so it functions as a Process Portfolio. You will need the process portfolio to write your reflection document, which must include both completed self-assessment forms (start and end of your programme), with 2 to 3 A4 pages of explanatory reflection. You also need to have attended at least one science communication conference, on which you must also reflect in an appendix (free format). Suggestions include the national C-student Conference (which is in English and free) or the Vakconferentie Wetenschapscommunicatie (in Dutch, not free). Please first consult the course coordinator if you want to go to another conference or participate in an on-line conference. Travel costs can be reimbursed for one domestic conference; entry fees can not be reimbursed. Note: the Bessensap event doesn't count, as this is part of the SCJ course unit. Make an appointment for a final discussion on you portfolio and reflection document with the course coordinator. He can send you a copy of the self-assessment form to fill-out. A few days before the scheduled appointment you should send the coordinator your zipped Portfolio and the documents. In a final conversation you will talk about your learning experiences with the coordinator, and together you can discuss future career options. |

Opmerkingen | You will have learned how to make a portfolio during the course Science Communication Skills. You will keep this up to date throughout your entire master program, by adding all your products to it. In Science Communication Skills you will also have filled out a baseline self-assessment survey (to be put in your portfolio as well); you will do so again at the end of your master program. You can obtain the survey form from the coordinator, dr. Mulder. This course was registered last year with course code WMEC13001 |
